Crown Point Improvement Project - Blair High Road to 72nd Street
About the Project
The existing 4-lane section of Crown Point Avenue between 72nd Street and Blair High Road has reached the end of its useful life. This project will construct new pavement and install ADA compliant ramps and sidewalks meeting current standards.
The City of Omaha has hired Olsson Associates to provide professional engineering services for the reconstruction of Crown Point Avenue from 72nd Street to Blair High Road. Olsson Associates will complete an analysis to determine the most appropriate cross section for the reconstructed road.

Announcement
During construction of Crown Point Avenue access to Northwest High School will consist of the following:

The traffic pattern to access Northwest High School will consist of a one-way travel pattern.

Vehicles and buses will enter Northwest High School from Vernon Avenue.

Vehicle drop off and pick up will take place on the west side of the school.

Bus drop off and pick up will take place on the east side of the school.

Vehicles and buses will exit the school utilizing their respective driveways.
Construction Updates
January 14, 2021
- Crown Point is again open to traffic.
- Miscellaneous items of construction work will continue to take place through Spring 2021.
December 17, 2020
- Work continues on Crown Point Avenue from the intersection of 78th Street to 74th Court.
- Weather permitting, Crown Point Avenue will open again to traffic by the end of December 2020.
- Miscellaneous items of construction work will continue to take place through Spring 2021.
October 7, 2020
Effective Thursday, October 8, 2020, the intersection of 78th St and Crown Point Ave will be closed for construction for approximately 7 weeks.
September 11, 2020
- Crown Point Avenue from Blair High Road to Wenninghoff Road is open to traffic.
- Crown Point Avenue from Blair High Road to the east entrance of Northwest High School is open to local traffic ONLY.
- Crown Point Avenue east of the east entrance of Northwest High School to 78th Street is closed with exception to homeowner traffic only.
February 24, 2020
- Effective Monday, February 24, 2020, the intersection of Crown Point Ave and Wenninghoff Road will be closed for reconstruction. (See attached)
- Access to businesses along the west side of Wenninghoff Road is available from Vernon Avenue or from southbound Wenninghoff Road.
