Construction Updates
January 14, 2021
- Jones Street and 12th Street are again open to traffic.
- Miscellaneous items of remaining work will take place along 12th Street through January 2021.
December 17, 2020
- Work on 12th Street from Jones to Jackson Streets will continue through December 20, 2020.
- 12th Street is tentatively scheduled to reopen to traffic the week of December 21, 2020 from Jones to Jackson Street.
- Miscellaneous work will remain on 12th Street through January 2021.
September 21, 2020

Starting Monday, September 28, the remaining portion of 12th Street from the alleyway to Jackson Street will be closed to all traffic.

All of 12th Street from Jones to Jackson Streets will remain closed until December.

Jones Street from 11th to 13th Streets is tentatively scheduled to reopen in mid-October.
All remaining work on the City of Omaha’s Jones Street project, more specifically along 12th Street, is anticipated to be completed by the end of 2020.
August 13, 2020
The following traffic changes will be made over the next few months:

Starting Monday, August 24, crews will continue working north on Phase 2 of the project. To accommodate this work, 12th Street from Jones Street to south of the alleyway will be closed. Access to the alleyway will remain open during this time. Jones Street from 11th to 13th Streets will remain closed until early-October.

Tentatively scheduled for mid-September, the remaining portion of 12th Street from the alleyway to Jackson Street will be closed. All of 12th Street from Jones to Jackson Streets will be closed until early December.

Tentatively scheduled for early October, Jones Street from 12th to 13th Streets will reopen to traffic.
July 10, 2020
RPL Utility has completed work at the 11th and Jones Street intersection. The intersection is tentatively scheduled to reopen to through traffic on 11th Street on Tuesday, July 14, 2020, barring any weather or unanticipated construction delays. Crews will immediately close the 12th and Jones Street intersection to continue work in the area. RPL Utility will continue to work along Jones Street from the west side of 11th Street to 13th Street with the 12th and Jones Street intersection closed to through traffic.
**Note: Only the 12th Street intersection work will be taking place at this time. No work will take place along 12th Street between Jones and Jackson Streets until later this year.
May 8, 2020
What to expect updated-
Phase 1
**Note: Jones Street from 11th to 12th Streets and from west of 12th to 13th Street will remain closed during Phase 1 construction.
Phase 2
- Late July/Early August – Closure of the intersection of 12th and Jones Street for removals and reconstructing the 12th Street intersection. The 11th Street intersection will reopen to north/south traffic at this time.
- August to November – Construction of 12th Street from Jones to Jackson Street pending completion of Jones Street from 11th to 13th Street.
**Note: Pedestrian access to properties will be maintained at all times by designated routes with the construction of sidewalks and underground vault work phased accordingly during all phases of construction.
April 6, 2020
What to expect-
Phase 1
- Week of April 13th – Closure of the intersection of 11th and Jones Street for removals
- April to June – Construct storm sewer and roadway from 11th Street west to 12th Street
Phase 2 and 2A
- Mid-May – Open the 11th and Jones Street intersection to traffic and close the 12th Street intersection.
- May to October – Construction along Jones Street from 12th to 13th and then up 12th to Jackson.
**Note: Northbound/southbound 12th Street will be open to traffic until 11th Street is reopened. Pedestrian access to properties will be maintained at all times by designated routes with the construction of sidewalks and underground vault work phased accordingly during all phases of construction.
