Ames Ave: Fontenelle Blvd to Commercial Ave – Safety Project (Road Reconfiguration)

As part of the Vision Zero Action Plan, Omaha Public Work is improving safety along 2 miles of Ames Avenue (from Fontenelle Blvd to Commercial Ave), a corridor identified on the Vision Zero High Injury Network.

To improve safety and reduce risk, this segment will be restriped from four lanes to three, adding a center two-way left-turn lane to better support operations and safety. Coordinated with planned resurfacing in Summer 2026, the new lane configuration is expected to help manage vehicle speeds, reduce conflict points, enhance mobility, and support safer travel for all users.
