Active Transportation Improvements - 2025 to 2030
The City of Omaha's Planning and Public Works Departments annually review street resurfacing projects to incorporate "Complete Streets" improvements, such as bike lanes and pedestrian crossings, through efficient striping and signage changes. These changes aim to calm traffic, enhance safety, and advance the city's bicycle network plans.

The Baby Bob Bridge connects the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge Plaza on Riverfront Drive to 10th Street.

The Baby Bob enhances the pedestrian and bicycle connections from the Charles Schwab Field, CHI Health Center, future North Omaha Burt/Mike Fahey Trail, and the future Streetcar to the Bob Kerrey Bridge, Riverfront Park, and Council Bluffs.

Sidewalks will be repaired for safety, installed where absent, and widened to meet the needs of pedestrians.

Girard Connection follows the abandoned CNW rail line to build a trail in North Omaha. This project is located on the north side of CHI Immanuel, and will connect from 72nd Street heading north/east to the existing sidewalk on Girard Street.

Sorensen Connection follows the abandoned CNW rail line to build a trail in North Omaha.

This project will include a new underpass at 72nd Street, continuing west and connecting with the existing trail on the north side of Sorensen Parkway at North 73rd Plaza.

This trail will connect to the current Riverfront Trail around Carter Blvd and N 12th St, and move west through Levi Carter Park southwest to Locust Street.
North Omaha Trail Phase 2 - 2027 led by Spark CDI

The North Omaha Trail will be an expansive, climate-resilient, multimodal transportation artery accessible to all and utilized by North Omaha residents to spark trail-oriented development and entrepreneurship, reconnect communities, and lessen dependence on gasoline-powered cars.

Burt Street Bike Way - 2028 led by Creighton University

The City of Omaha is vacating Burt Street from 20th Street to 24th Street. Creighton University will close the street to cars and redevelop the space as a well-landscaped pedestrian path and bikeway.

This bikeway will connect into the future North Omaha Trail at 24th Street and the Mike Fahey protected bicycle lane which connects into the Baby Bob Bridge.

Market to Midtown Bikeway - 2028 led by City of Omaha

This project will construct a protected bike lane along Farnam Street and Harney Street between 10th Street and Turner Boulevard.

The protected bicycle lane will be physically separated from traffic lanes via curbs or other vertical separators.
Midtown Medical Center Bikeway - 2028 led by UNMC

The Midtown Medical Center Bikeway Connection project includes a dedicated bikeway along Emile Street separated from vehicular traffic and pedestrian overpasses at Leavenworth Street and Saddle Creek Road.

The Beltline Trail will reuse the former Missouri Pacific Railroad corridor that runs through central Omaha.
