Military Ave: 45th - Hamilton St

Road Reconfiguration

Omaha Public Works is working to improve safety and access along a half-mile stretch of Military Ave (45th St to Hamilton St). As part of the Summer 2026 resurfacing of this corridor, the City will introduce a new lane configuration and other updates to make it safer, more accessible, and more comfortable for all users.

Planned improvements include new crosswalks, improved transit access, and a new bike lane connecting to the new Beltline Trail extension at 40th and Military. These changes can help slow traffic, reduce risk, and better organize how space is used along Military Ave.

Parking on the east side of Military Ave will be removed, except between Grant St and Burdette St. Parking will remain on the west side. This change helps better define parking areas and reduces the risk of sideswipe crashes.

The intersection of Military Ave and Grant St/45th St/Fontenelle Blvd will be restriped to better define and tighten the intersection, improving sight lines for drivers and enhancing safety.
