Ames Ave: Fontenelle Blvd to 16th St – Safety Project (Road Reconfiguration)
AMES AVE: FONTENELLE BLVD TO COMMERCIAL AVE
Public Meeting - July 9, 2026
Join us for a public meeting on July 9th from 5:30-7:00pm at The Venue at Highlander - 2120 N. 30th St
As part of the Vision Zero Action Plan, Omaha Public Works is improving safety along more than 2 miles of Ames Avenue (from Fontenelle Blvd to Commercial Ave), a corridor identified on the Vision Zero High Injury Network.
To improve safety and reduce risk, this segment will be restriped from four lanes to three, adding a center two-way left-turn lane to better support operations and safety. Coordinated with planned resurfacing in Summer 2026, the new lane configuration is expected to help manage vehicle speeds, reduce conflict points, enhance mobility, and support safer travel for all users.
